This research arises from the need to understand how teachers perceive the development of emotional intelligence in the Early Childhood Education classroom. In the educational field, emotional intelligence plays an essential role in social interaction, emotion regulation, and learning. The main objective of this study is to analyze teachers' perceptions regarding the development of emotional intelligence in an Early Childhood Education classroom within an educational institution in Lima. For this purpose, two specific objectives are proposed: to identify teachers' perceptions of personal competencies and to identify their perceptions of social competencies related to emotional intelligence in the Early Childhood Education setting. The research begins with the conceptual definition of emotional intelligence, highlighting its competencies and its importance for child development. Within this framework, personal competencies are analyzed, emphasizing their significance, developmental processes, and strategies for application in the classroom. Similarly, social competencies are addressed, considering their definitions, development, importance in the educational context, and the strategies that support their implementation. The study is based on a qualitative, descriptive approach, using the semi-structured interview as the technique for data collection. The sample consisted of three teachers from the second cycle of Early Childhood Education. The responses obtained were organized and analyzed using a matrix, which allowed for the systematization of the information and facilitated its interpretation. The results show that the teachers consider the development of personal and social skills in the Early Childhood Education classroom to be highly relevant, as it contributes to the understanding and management of emotions among both children and teachers, promoting their comprehensive development.
