comunidades rurales.
Agriculture in Calca faces limitations that affect its competitiveness, such as a lack of technology and efficient irrigation, despite having a large area and diversity of crops. Diversification efforts, such as strawberry cultivation, have been profitable, but only 40 producers participate in these projects. The agrarian crisis in Peru has aggravated the situation, with a 10.5% drop in hectares planted and 42% of agricultural households living in poverty. The Clavel del Valle project has identified key needs of farmers, such as access to financing and technical training, demonstrating that carnation cultivation is a profitable and stable option. The project promotes sustainable practices that maximize yield and conserve natural resources. Technical training has been vital to optimize resources, and the buy-back system has provided financial security to farmers. In addition, the access to financing have reduced production costs, improving income and the cohesion of rural communities. Clavel del Valle has shown great profitability, with an Economic Internal Rate of Return (ERR) of 111.15% and an Economic Net Present Value (EPV) of S/. 5,791,767.8. Monte Carlo simulations reveal an average NPV of S/. 6,159,867.26, with a zero risk of the NPV being less than S/. 3,800,000. The project has also been aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), achieving a Social Relevance Index (SRI) of 47.83%, contributing significantly to the targets of SDGs 8 and 12, promoting sustainable agricultural practices and improving the economic conditions of farmers in the region. At the social level, the Net Present Value (NPV) of the project is estimated at S/. 4,081,357.65, reflecting a strong positive impact on rural communities.
