This research aims to identify the similarities and differences in how memory of the Internal Armed Conflict (IAC) is mediated through the discourses of secondary schools and the Place of Memory, Tolerance and Social Inclusion (LUM), based on their respective approaches. The study follows a non-experimental qualitative methodology with an empirical character and a descriptive scope. To this end, an interview was conducted with the coordinator of the LUM’s Education Area from the 2024 administration; additionally, two teachers from private schools in Metropolitan Lima who visited the LUM with their fifth-year secondary students in 2024 were also interviewed. Moreover, non-participant observation was carried out during three guided visits with fifth-year secondary students at the LUM. These methods partially confirmed the hypothesis that there is an effort toward complementarity in the discourses of both memory agents regarding the country’s recent past.
