This professional proficiency report presents my experience as the producer of Sonidos del Mundo [Sounds of the World] (2021–2025), a program developed for Peru’s public broadcasting channel, TVPerú, with the primary goal of promoting the recognition and visibility of Peruvian musicians, thereby contributing to the strengthening of the national music industry. This report also documents the evolution of the program’s content as a result of actions implemented throughout my tenure as producer, during which episodes were developed using a biographical and documentary approach and applying qualitative research methodologies such as in-depth interviews, documentary analysis, and the use of audiovisual archives. These tools enriched the program’s content by providing greater depth, journalistic rigor, and testimonial value. Particularly significant was the use of the historical archives of the National Institute of Radio and Television of Peru (IRTP), whose wealth of material makes it possible to reconstruct and revalue the country’s musical memory. This experience also reflects on the role of public television as an active agent in building audiovisual memory and preserving Peruvian cultural heritage, while underscoring the urgency of safeguarding and disseminating these archives, which document Peru’s musical diversity and identity. Finally, this systematization aims to share the experience with professionals, students, and communication practitioners, highlighting the potential of public television to create meaningful, compelling, and inclusive narratives. Sonidos del Mundo stands as a concrete example of how public broadcasters can actively contribute to strengthening cultural identity by showcasing the stories and legacy of Peruvian musicians.
