exposición a bacterias y virus.
The objective of this study is to address the issue of dog waste in the city of Lima, and the current management of this waste. The focus is on districts that have collection programs, but not reuse as fertilizer. Thus, the objective is to reduce environmental pollution caused by exposure to bacteria and viruses. Through the choice of methodology, we seek to implement a service design in the collection of dog waste through the programs of bins/collection of animal feces found in the parks of the districts of: San Isidro, San Borja, Miraflores, San Miguel and Magdalena. The key elements for the advancement of this project are that, according to the most recent statistics from Ipsos Peru, about 58% of households in Peru own at least one pet, and 88% of households that own a pet choose to have a dog as a loyal companion. IPSOS (2023). Huella Verde aims to produce compost from dog waste in Lima, Peru, which will then be utilized as organic fertilizer in both public and private gardens, thereby contributing to sustainability and environmental preservation. The solution, which was validated by users through the use of a prototype, considers an initial investment of S/497,820 whose payback is one year. The NPV obtained in five years is S/3’163,964 and an IRR of 218%, with this solution a net social benefit of S/33,720 per year could be generated and a social NPV of S/134,634 in 5 years. The composting process will be conducted in an environmentally friendly and responsible manner, in full compliance with current environmental regulations. For this purpose, we have a team of experts in the management of organic waste and in the production of high quality compost. The business model centers on the collection of dog waste from city parks and municipal collection points, which will then be transported to our composting facility. Once processed, the compost will be ready for commercialization and distribution to customers seeking a natural and sustainable product. This project not only helps to reduce organic waste pollution in the city, but also encourages more responsible and environmentally friendly practices. In addition, it provides an ecological and innovative solution for the treatment of organic waste, providing a sustainable and profitable option for the residents of Lima.
