The present research entitled "High-level reading processes and the resolution of arithmetic problems in students of the 6th grade of primary school of a private educational institution in Comas", aims to determine the relationship of high-level reading processes with the resolution of arithmetic problems presented by the children participating in the study. This serve as relevant information for professionals due to the scarce research in children who attend the sixth grade of primary school. To achieve this purpose, specialized bibliography related to the subject of study was reviewed, finding that reading comprehension affects the resolution of mathematical problems. In this research, the quantitative approach use in order to collect and analyze data that proves the established hypotheses. The method is descriptive because the characteristics of the variables High-level reading processes and the resolution of arithmetic problems predominate, it is comparative because the performance of the variables and their relationship based on sex are contrasted. It presents a sample of 65 boys and girls, selected in the intentional modality in the district of Comas. In the process of measuring both variables, the PROLEC-R Test is used in high-level processes and EVAMAT-6 in problem solving tasks. The results of this investigation indicate that there is a significant relationship between high-level reading processes and solving arithmetic problems.
