The aim of this research is to analyse the dance of the Espectacular Diablada Bellavista as a process of communication that contributes to the expression of the cultural identity of its dancers during the Festival of the Virgin of Candelaria in Puno, as well as to the preservation of the Diablada Puneña. To this end, a qualitative methodology with an inductive approach was used, based on the application of structured, in-depth interviews and direct observation. A total of 41 dancers were interviewed, including directors, choreographers and representatives of the different blocks of the Asociación Folklórica Espectacular Diablada Bellavista (ESDIBE). The fieldwork was carried out between October 2024 and February 2025 and aimed to analyse the internal organisation of ESDIBE and its communication mechanisms; the origin and development of both the festival and the association itself; the communicative elements of the Diablada dance; the processes of intergenerational communication among its members; and the strategies implemented for the preservation and safeguarding of the Diablada Puneña as Cultural Heritage of the Nation. Among the main findings, it is evident that ESDIBE is based on strong family and social ties, which guarantee the intergenerational transmission of values, beliefs and knowledge. Likewise, the association is a living space for the construction, strengthening and preservation of cultural heritage, actively contributing to the safeguarding and transmission of the Diablada Puneña dance. In this context, the communicative elements of the dance acquire meaning from the experience and memory of the dancers themselves, who give meaning to each of its components. These elements also function as means of individual and collective expression, materialising techniques, knowledge and meanings inherited over time.
