This research develops MotoConecta, an innovative solution to address insecurity and informality in the mototaxi service in Piura, Peru. Currently, mototaxi transportation faces multiple challenges, including a lack of regulation, safety risks for passengers and drivers, and unfair competition due to the informality of the sector (Municipalidad Provincial de Piura, 2024). Through an extensive market analysis, the main problems and opportunities were identified, concluding that the digitalization of the service is key to improving its efficiency and reliability. The study used the Design Thinking methodology to design and validate a digital platform that connects passengers and mototaxi drivers in a safe and efficient manner. Interviews and surveys were conducted with users and drivers, identifying their needs and expectations. As a result, a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) was developed with key functionalities such as identity registration and verification, real-time mototaxi assignment, dynamic pricing, digital payment, and security features like live tracking and an emergency button. From a business perspective, the MotoConecta model is based on a scalable and sustainable structure. Through the Business Model Canvas, strategies were defined for monetizing the service through commissions per trip, advertising, and strategic partnerships. Furthermore, financial viability was assessed through growth projections and profitability analysis. The social impact of the project is significant, as it promotes the formalization of the sector, improves public transportation safety, and creates economic opportunities for drivers. In conclusion, MotoConecta represents a viable and desirable solution to transform mototaxi transportation in Piura. Its implementation will contribute to improving the safety, efficiency, and formality of the service, benefiting both passengers and drivers, and promoting a sustainable urban mobility model in the region.
