In a context like the current one, where digital environments transform social interaction as well as access to information, this research analyzes the perception of 4th-year secondary education students from a private educational institution in Metropolitan Lima regarding digital citizenship centered on information literacy. The study adopts a qualitative and descriptive approach. The participants are five students, and the data collection technique used is semi-structured interviews, with an interview guide serving as the instrument. The specific objectives are: 1) to explain how students recognize the need for information, and 2) to explain how they locate and evaluate online information. The results show that students value the diversity and quick access to online resources, especially for academic and personal purposes. However, it also becomes evident that their competencies are limited, restricting their ability to critically assess information outside the school context. Similarly, they identify benefits such as the breadth of resources and risks like misinformation; moreover, they acknowledge that it is an opportunity to have political influence in the public imagination. The research corresponds to the line of Education, Citizenship, and Attention to Diversity at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. It is structured in three parts: theoretical framework, methodological framework, and analysis of results, followed by conclusions and recommendations.
