minera.
The management of specialized service contracts has become a determining factor for the economic and operational sustainability of mining units in Peru. In a context where profit margins are shrinking and technical and regulatory requirements are increasing; it is essential to understand how quality contract management can make the difference between efficiency and cost overruns. This research focuses on the experience of the Cerro Lindo Mining Unit, owned by Nexa Resources Peru S.A.A., where outsourcing represents a substantial part of the operation. The study starts from a specific concern: how does the implementation of a specialized service contract management model affect the operating costs of a mining unit? The expected results include a reduction in cost overruns, improved financial traceability, and greater operational efficiency, in addition to the organizational learning that arises from the management process. Based on the case study, it is demonstrated that well-designed and executed contract management, which articulates clear indicators, ongoing monitoring, and a collaborative relationship with contractors, not only contributes to optimizing costs but also to consolidating a culture of continuous improvement and shared responsibility within the mining operation.
