Abstract
virtual.
Our objective in this research consists of the analysis of religious practices in a Catholic Parish during the pandemic of COVID-19 and after the reopening of the churches. We will examine how the congregation has adjusted to the new conditions during the time of mandatory quarantine and the closing of temples due to the Peruvian State executive decision. Also, we will observe at what happened after the lockdown and if the parishioners have lost their commitment to attend Sunday mass or if they have reinforced their devotions during the COVID-19 pandemic. We take on this research about the COVID-19 impact on religious practices from an upper-class neighborhood in San Isidro, predominantly catholic with a good ecclesiastical infrastructure. Over a year there has been an observation and a count of attendees during the first Sunday mass, also interviews with eight parishioners and the parish priest. Also, a revision of the transmissions of virtual masses (online ethnography) from the parish Facebook page was made. The purpose is to compare the trend in mass attendance in the parish and online mass watching.
