Abstract
The Covid19 pandemic made evident the precariousness of the health, education, and access to information systems in Peru. Regarding to the Internet access, currently 89.9% (MTC, 2021) of households in rural areas do not have digital access. That social problem reflects the digital gap, inequality, and vulnerability of these areas of the country, affecting their development in health, education, work, e-commerce, etc. In this sense, this business model proposes to implement a wireless telecommunications infrastructure to provide Unlimited Fixed Internet connectivity for rural areas at an affordable price. The proposal has been developed with Design Thinking methodology, for the company Desysweb, due to the current situation, is experiencing difficulties to diversify in the telecommunications market and to expand to other sites. Desysweb has the resources, experience in telecommunications and the infrastructure for its implementation (radio and long-range antennas, renewable energy systems and 24-hour monitoring). The proposal is innovative due to the complexity of the geography of rural areas and the behavioral changes it will generate in society. The Net Present Value of the project is S/. 4'019,769, and has an Internal Rate Return of 30.6%, with a capital cost of 6.37%. The social NPV of this business model is S/. 22’493,296 with a 5-year projection of social benefits and costs.
