Abstract
After two years of virtual modality and rapid progress in the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in education, it is important to understand how students perceive the effects of these technologies on their educational experience and, specifically, on their academic performance. To answer this question, the general objective of this research work was to analyze the effects of ICT on academic performance from the perceptions of Art and Design students at a private university in Metropolitan Lima. A qualitative, non-experimental and phenomenographic methodology was used. As an instrument, a semi-structured interview was applied to the study sample. The quotes obtained from these interviews were analyzed with the assistance of the qualitative analysis software Atlas.ti. The results showed that students recognize the importance and advantages of ICT in education, such as the ability to personalize their learning, but, at the same time, they identified a series of disadvantages such as the saturation of technological resources and the possible negative impact on their emotional well-being. Despite this, they highlighted the importance of ethics and the responsible use of technology, as well as the balance between digital media and traditional techniques to promote creativity.
