"Swip, Ship, Flip & Love" is a medium-length film that seeks to diminish the essentialization of BL fandom in Lima by exposing and reflecting on how gender stereotypes are represented in Boys Love (BL) webcomic narratives. This project stems from the identification of a series of stereotypes present in various contemporary BL narratives in digital media, which affect the perception of the LGBT+ community by consumers of this material. By conducting surveys to female consumers of the genre and interviews with various key actors related to the world of BL webcomics, it was found that the narratives of Boys Love actively reproduce stereotypical representations of the members of this community and their experiences, so the opportunity was found to discuss the gender stereotypes present in many of these narratives. Based on the above, a video design project was developed that seeks to expose and question the representation and gender stereotypes present in the narratives of BL webcomics, by exposing the BL fandom in Lima and its perspective on this issue, while seeking to reduce the essentialization of the community itself.
