Abstract
La perspectiva de los sistemas dinámicos en la psicología favorece la investigación de los
procesos individuales y sociales de las personas, para lo cual se consideran los atractores
como variables que influyen en la cognición y conducta de una persona durante una vivencia
(Reed & Vachaler, 2020). La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo de investigación
explorar la experiencia del proceso de independencia en mujeres con discapacidad visual.
Como objetivos específicos se plantea 1) Explorar las barreras específicas en el proceso de
independencia y 2) Explorar los atractores positivos y negativos frente a las barreras
vivenciadas a lo largo del proceso de independencia. Se contó con 10 participantes mayores
de edad, quienes se consideraban independientes. Para ello se utilizó un método cualitativo
con enfoque fenomenológico, por lo cual se utilizaron entrevistas semi-estructuradas. Las
principales barreras encontradas fueron la sobreprotección del entorno cercano, las barreras
en la movilización, las barreras en su trayectoria profesional y la exclusión social, vinculado
al género. Luego, los atractores negativos refieren a una sociedad excluyente que complejiza
las barreras, así como las personas que son indiferentes hacia la discapacidad; mientras que
los atractores positivos refieren a las características de las participantes como su
personalidad, motivaciones personales y estrategias, así como los actores externos que las
ayudaron en el proceso.
The dynamic systems perspective in psychology emphasizes investigating individual and social processes, regarding attractors as variables that influence a person’s cognition and behavior during life experiences (Reed & Vachaler, 2020). This study aimed to explore the experience of the independence process in women with visual impairments. Secondary objectives were: 1) To identify specific barriers encountered in the independence process, and 2) To examine the positive and negative attractors related to these barriers throughout the independence process. Ten independent adult participants took part in the study. A qualitative, phenomenological approach was adopted, using semi-structured interviews to collect data. The specific barriers included overprotection by proximal environment, mobility constraints, professional-related obstacles, and social exclusion linked to gender. Negative attractors were associated with an exclusionary society that reinforces these barriers and individuals who exhibit indifference toward disability. In contrast, positive attractors included participant’a personality characteristics such as personal goals and motivations, coping strategies, as well as external support from individuals who assisted them during the process.
