This Professional Proficiency Work presents the most significant evidence from the formative process developed during my pre-professional internship at the Peruvian Sports Federation for People with Intellectual Disabilities (FEDEPEDI). The intervention took place in a hybrid (in-person and remote) context shaped by the post-pandemic period, which posed challenges for establishing effective bonds among athletes, the technical staff, and families. The objective was to improve sports performance and psychosocial well-being of athletes with intellectual disabilities through strategies focused on emotional regulation, attention, motivation, and communication. A qualitative methodological approach was employed, involving interviews, workshops, individual sessions, adapted psychological assessments, and the systematization of clinical information, integrating the graduate profile competencies: assessment, intervention, and evaluation. Contextualized interventions were designed with adherence to principles of inclusion, ethics, and adaptation to the cognitive and emotional particularities of the target population. As a result, the communicative skills of the technical team were strengthened, family involvement in the sports process increased, and athletes’ emotional autonomy was enhanced. This experience allowed for the integration of academic knowledge with situated professional practice, reaffirming the value of sport psychology as a transformative tool for promoting inclusive and humane sports environments.
