Abstract
The problem formulated for this research is based on the analysis of academic performance in the learning of statistics through the traditional teaching methods in students of the first cycles of the university and how this traditional methodology has not allowed students to improve their academic performance in the last semesters. For this reason, we set out to use some technological tool in the design of the course for the following semesters. In this context, the problem we face is summarized in the following question: How does the use of digital videos influence the learning of statistics from the perception of students in general studies of a private university in Lima? The objective of this investigation is to analyze the use of digital video in the learning of descriptive statistics according to the perceptions of the students of general studies letters of a private university of Lima. The target audience of the study was 20 undergraduate students enrolled in the Statistics course at a private university in Lima. The level of research was descriptive and the approach that was developed was qualitative. The instruments that have been used for the collection of information in this research were two: online survey and interview. According to the research results, the students perceived the usefulness of using digital videos in the learning of Statistics. However, they also consider that the resource is inefficient if the contents in the digital video do not follow a didactic sequence and do not have the appropriate techniques for its production, such as video quality, sound and animations. The latter is closely related to the conception that students have about the technical characteristics that help in the motivation and interest of students in the visualization of videos in general.
