Autoestima, afrontamiento y bienestar en un grupo de mujeres con depresión

Abstract
La depresión es una enfermedad que afecta a una gran parte de la población mundialmente y es un
gran problema en la salud pública, especialmente en la población de mujeres. La depresión tiene una
variedad de síntomas, sin embargo, esto hace que sea bastante difícil de tratar. Por esto, se necesita
recoger más información que ayude a generar estrategias de diagnóstico y tratamiento para la
enfermedad al igual que proyectos de promoción y prevención de la salud a través de la
investigación. Es por ello, que se necesita conocer más sobre las variables psicológicas que
intervienen cuando se da un diagnóstico de esta naturaleza. Como respuesta al objetivo principal de
la investigación, a través de la aplicación de una ficha sociodemográfica, el Inventario de Estimación
del Afrontamiento COPE, la Escala de Autoestima Rosenberg y las escalas de Bienestar a 51
mujeres con depresión, se encontraron diversas correlaciones entre las tres escalas de estudio.
Existen relaciones muy significativas y positivas entre bienestar, autoestima y reinterpretación
positiva. Así mismo, se encuentra que la estrategia de afrontamiento enfocar y liberar emociones
tiene correlaciones negativas con bienestar y autoestima. Además, se encontraron diversas
relaciones entre las variables sociodemográficas y las variables de enfermedad.
Depression is a disease that affects a large part of the world population and represents a big issue in public health. Depression has a variety of symptoms; however, this makes it even harder to treat. For this reason, it is very important to generate information that will help create better strategies for the diagnosis and treatment of the disease as well as projects to prevent and promote health through investigation. Through the administration of a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Coping Estimation Inventory COPE, the Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (RSES) to a group of 51 women with depression, the investigation found a various relationships between the variables. There are various significant and positive relationships between wellbeing, self-esteem and positive reinterpretation and growth. Also, focusing and releasing emotion has a negative correlation to wellbeing and self esteem. Finally, many relationships have been found between self-esteem, the coping strategies and well-being with the sociodemographic variables and the variables related to depression.
