Implementación de un ERP SAP S/4 HANA RISE PRIVATE en una empresa exportadora de fundición de minerales no ferrosos

Resumen
El presente trabajo de suficiencia profesional analiza la experiencia de una empresa
industrial peruana dedicada a la fundición y exportación de minerales no ferrosos, que
enfrentaba limitaciones estructurales en la gestión de procesos e información debido a la
subutilización del sistema ERP SAP R/3. Esta situación comprometía su competitividad
internacional al mantener procesos manuales y fragmentados, falta de confiabilidad en la
información, sobrecarga operativa y riesgo de obsolescencia tecnológica por el fin de soporte
del sistema vigente.
El objetivo general fue implementar un sistema de información empresarial que
permitiera cerrar las brechas identificadas en los procesos críticos, optimizar la eficiencia
operativa, garantizar la confiabilidad de la información y fortalecer la competitividad
internacional de la organización. Para ello se plantearon cinco objetivos específicos: (1)
mejorar la eficiencia y productividad de los procesos, (2) garantizar la trazabilidad integral de
la cadena productiva y de exportación, (3) implementar capacidades de analítica en tiempo
real, (4) asegurar el cumplimiento normativo y aduanero internacional, y (5) desarrollar la
capacidad de innovación y escalabilidad mediante la integración futura de tecnologías
emergentes.
La metodología fue diseñada por el autor como un marco propio que integró SAP
Activate, metodologías ágiles y herramientas de gestión de proyectos, estructurada en seis
fases: evaluación y alineamiento estratégico, assessment de procesos, definición del enfoque y
socio implementador, ejecución de la implementación bajo enfoque Greenfield, medición de
resultados y sostenibilidad mediante mejora continua.
Los resultados obtenidos muestran un incremento de la cobertura de procesos ERP de
40 % a 85 %, la reducción del 82 % de reportes críticos en Excel, la disminución del 72 % de
asientos contables manuales, un 95 % de notificaciones de producción en línea, un nivel de
confiabilidad de los datos maestros del 95–96 %, reducción del tiempo de cierre contable en
45 % y un 88 % de adopción efectiva por parte de los usuarios.
En conclusión, la implementación de SAP S/4HANA RISE Private Cloud bajo el
enfoque Greenfield permitió transformar un sistema subutilizado en una plataforma estratégica,
confiable y preparada para la innovación, consolidando la competitividad internacional de la
empresa y validando la suficiencia profesional del autor como Ingeniero Informático capaz de
liderar proyectos de alto impacto.
This professional proficiency work analyzes the experience of a Peruvian industrial company dedicated to the smelting and export of non-ferrous minerals, which faced structural limitations in process and information management due to the underutilization of the SAP R/3 ERP system. This situation compromised its international competitiveness by maintaining manual and fragmented processes, unreliable information, operational overload, and the risk of technological obsolescence due to the end of support for the current system. The general objective was to implement an enterprise information system that would close the gaps identified in critical business processes, optimize operational efficiency, ensure the reliability of information, and strengthen the organization’s international competitiveness. To this end, five specific objectives were established: (1) improve process efficiency and productivity, (2) guarantee end-to-end traceability of the production and export chain, (3) implement real-time analytics capabilities, (4) ensure international regulatory and customs compliance, and (5) develop innovation and scalability capacity through the future integration of emerging technologies. The methodology was designed by the author as a proprietary framework that integrated SAP Activate, agile methodologies, and project management tools, structured into six phases: evaluation and strategic alignment, process assessment, definition of approach and implementation partner, execution of the reimplementation under a Greenfield approach, measurement of results, and sustainability through continuous improvement. The results show an increase in ERP process coverage from 40% to 85%, a reduction of 82% in critical Excel reports, a 72% decrease in manual accounting entries, 95% of production notifications recorded online, master data reliability at 95–96%, a 45% reduction in financial closing time, and 88% effective user adoption. In conclusion, the reimplementation of SAP S/4HANA RISE Private Cloud under the Greenfield approach transformed an underutilized system into a strategic, reliable, and innovation-ready platform, consolidating the company’s international competitiveness and validating the author’s professional proficiency as a Computer Engineer capable of leading high-impact projects.
