Abstract
El año 2016, el Social Progress Imperative diseñó el Índice de Progreso Social (IPS),
modelo que se viene utilizando como una herramienta global para medir el bienestar de las
personas, tomando en cuenta tres dimensiones para analizar los resultados sociales y
medioambientales. La primera dimensión está constituida por las necesidades humanas
básicas, las cuales buscan determinar si las necesidades esenciales de la sociedad están
satisfechas; la segunda está conformada por los fundamentos de bienestar que escrutan sobre
la existencia de elementos fundamentales para que las personas y comunidades puedan
incrementar y mantener su bienestar; y, por último, la dimensión referida a oportunidades,
que permite conocer si existen las posibilidades para que todas las personas puedan lograr su
pleno potencial. Estas tres dimensiones, a su vez, están divididas en cuatro componentes cada
una.
La presente investigación tiene como objetivo calcular y analizar el IPS del distrito
Villa El Salvador, a fin de medir la calidad de vida de sus habitantes. Los resultados del IPS
en el distrito de Villa El Salvador fueron 59.29 puntos de un total de 100 ubicándose en un
progreso social Medio Bajo. De las tres dimensiones analizadas en el distrito Villa El
Salvador, el que obtiene el mayor puntaje es la dimensión Necesidades Humanas Básicas con
68.16 puntos ubicándose en un nivel de progreso social Medio Alto, donde destacan los
componentes agua y saneamiento básico y vivienda y servicios públicos. La dimensión
fundamentos de bienestar obtiene el menor puntaje, 49.71 con clasificación Bajo. En este
punto se debe prestar especial atención a los componentes Sostenibilidad Ambiental y Acceso
al Conocimiento Básico. La dimensión Oportunidades se ubica en el segundo lugar con un
puntaje de 60.00, con lo que se clasifica en el nivel Medio Bajo, donde se destaca la Libertad
Personal y de Elección.
Year 2016, The Social Progress Imperative design the Social Progress Index (SPI), model that is being used as a global tool to messure the welfare of people taking into consideration three dimensions that analyze social and environmental results, first dimension is Human Basic Needs, which search if essential society needs are fullfiled, the second is Walfare Basics which study the essential elements to allow people and communities to grow and manteined their well-being and finally, the dimension of opportunities that shows if there are enough oppotunities for people to achieve its full potential, these three dimensions are divided in four componets each. This reseach aims to calculate and analyzed the Social Progress Index (SPI) in the distric of Villa el Salvador to messure quality of life of its population. The SPI results for Villa el Salvador District was 59.29 points of 100 positioning in Social Progress Medium Low. From the three dimension analyzed in the District, the highest score is in dimension Basic human Needs with 68.16 points with social progress Medium High position, standing out componets as wáter, basic sanitation, dwelling and public services. Dimension Walfare Basics obtain the lowest score with 49.71 with Low qualification, at this point, special attention should be paid to the environmental sustainability components and access to basic knowledge. Oportunity dimension stands in the second place with 60.00 score qualified as Medium Low, where stands out personal freedom and choice, getting lesser score access to higher education, in that sense, authorities should focus on this component. In comparison with the analized district in this reserah, we took the adjacent Chorrillos District, which SPI is 57.43, slightly beneath from Villa el Salvador District however both are in the same rank of level of social progress, medium low; whereas on the other hand as compared with San Isidro District, which belong to level of social progress high, with 83.02 of qualification, evidencing two different realities.
