Abstract
In 2020, virtual education was implemented in all educational institutions in Peru due to confinement measures due to COVID 19. Virtual education brought new challenges for teachers and students in educational process. One year after the return to face-to-face education, the research was carried out with the main objective of analyzing the perceptions of teachers and students about the implementation of virtual education in a Faculty of Civil Engineering of a Public Peruvian University in Lima. Three specific objectives were also considered linked to the analysis of regulations, the description of training contexts and the contrast of good practices with the current situation. The methodological approach developed in the study was qualitative, empirical and descriptive level. The research techniques used were documentary analysis of the university's regulations on the implementation of virtual education and interviews with teachers and students about their perceptions of the virtual teaching and learning process. The results showed that teachers faced the challenge of learning to use and incorporate new technological resources for teaching and assumed a motivating role for their students; In the case of the students, it was found that they faced the challenge of changing their study methods and assumed a leading role in their learning.
