Abstract
The aim of this research thesis is to demonstrate how, through the audiovisual narrative and characters developed in the Catalan series Merlí, the concept of new masculinity emerges. This will be carried out through the analysis of 5 characters that are crucial to the plot, as they demonstrate that fictional seriesfocus on specific social groups or scenarios. Television fiction adapts to the new society consuming it, portraying novel themes. This is reflected in the reduction of episode duration, genre blending, and granting increasing presence and protagonism to characters that were previously excluded or marginalized. These characters now serve as a strategy to achieve greater reach and engagement with audiences. These conclusions are reached through analysis sheets focused on character transformation arcs and the utilization of resources and audiovisual narratives throughout the three seasons.
