Abstract
Corporación Mayo es un grupo empresarial de Ingeniería y Construcción cuya actividad principal
son los servicios de conservación vial y gestión de carreteras. La compañía fue creada para
desarrollar actividades inicialmente en la región San Martín, luego de atravesar problemas
administrativos y económicos esta cambia de propietarios y desde ese entonces ha luchado contra
diversos problemas por razones internas; como el poco entendimiento entre los primeros
asociados, falta de control en los procesos operativos en el sector construcción, desarrollo en un
sector que cambia constantemente y que brinda tecnologías nuevas.
Desde su refundación allá por el año 2007 se encuentra dirigida por el Ingeniero Chávez, después
de 8 años de gestión, el Ingeniero Chávez observa que las ventas de su empresa comenzaron a
declinar producto de tres factores, siendo estos: a) mayores competidores en su nicho, b) crisis del
sector construcción y c) disminución de inversión del gobierno en proyectos viales, pero sobre
todo por el ingreso de nuevos competidores en su core business.
Es en ese momento que el Ingeniero Chávez se enfrenta al gran dilema de incursionar o no en
rubros ajenos al core business de su empresa

The company was created to develop activities initially in the San Martin region, after going through administrative and economic problems this change of owners and since then has fought against various problems for internal reasons; as the lack of understanding among the first associates, lack of control over their operating processes in the construction sector, development in a construction sector that is constantly changing and that provides new technologies. After 8 years, Mr. Chávez observes that the sales of his company began to decline due to three factors, being these: a) greater competitors in his niche, b) the crisis in the construction sector and c) the decrease in government investment in road projects, but above all due to the entry of new competitors into its core business.
