Abstract
By improving emergency diagnostics, the goal is to reduce the 35% delay in urgent care. This delay is due to the lack of sufficient doctors in 52% of the primary care centers managed by the Ministry of Health and regional governments, and 98% lack adequate infrastructure and equipment for care (Aguirre Martens, 2023). The user group comes from the Loreto area in Peru, residing in Iquitos and ranging in age from 25 to 65 years old. To identify the user profile, 21 interviews were conducted with parents who have between two and four children and show concern for both their own health and that of their families. It is important to address the problem of the lack of medical personnel in the healthcare system, as it not only affects the quality of medical care in Peru but also endangers the lives of thousands of citizens. This shortage of doctors is even more notable in the rural and remote regions of the country, forcing general practitioners to play a crucial role in providing health services (Ibañez, 2023). To increase the chances of timely diagnosis and save lives, it is essential to improve health infrastructure, which includes training professionals and providing access to technology. The proposal was created using the design thinking methodology, which allowed for the creation of a variety of innovative user-centered solutions. Measures were taken to identify the main difficulties faced by patients and their families in Loreto, to perform diagnostics and monitor treatment in the jungle. The objective of the telemedicine project with long-distance monitored ultrasound in Iquitos, Peru, is to provide remote access to experts through the use of advanced technology and high-speed internet. This will allow for remote monitoring and better early detection and treatment of urgent situations, improving quality of life and reducing morbidity and mortality for patients in areas with limited medical resources. In Iquitos, Peru, telemedicine booths with long- distance ultrasound monitoring via satellite internet are offered for emergency patients. This is the business model. The project's Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) is 16.29% and the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) is 318.12%, indicating that the project is viable and the proposal is accepted. The equity cost of capital for E-DOCTOR is 29.15%, represented as Ke, while the cost of debt, or Kd in Soles, is 9.00%. The IRR is high at 318.12%. The estimated payback period, or the time to recover the investment, is 0.347 years. Additionally, an Economic Net Present Value (NPV) of S/4,755,047.00 and a Financial NPV of S/3,359,975.00 were obtained, indicating that the project is acceptable as both values are above zero. By promoting the improvement of health and well-being, encouraging the development of infrastructure and innovation, and facilitating the formation of strategic alliances, the project contributes to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The social market value of E-DOCTOR is S/21,900,714.12, 7.36 times higher than the economic market value, indicating a significant positive social impact in addition to its economic benefits.
