Activación de redes trasnacionales para la conservación ambiental en Perú: análisis de Yunkawasi y ACCA

Abstract

La presente investigación busca comprender el rol de las redes trasnacionales y cómo estas contribuyen en el fortalecimiento de la capacidad de acción de las organizaciones no gubernamentales (ONGs) ambientales en Perú. Para ello, se toma como referencia los casos de Yunkawasi y la Asociación para la Conservación de la Cuenca Amazónica (ACCA). A través de un enfoque cualitativo, basado principalmente en entrevistas semiestructuradas y en el análisis de materiales virtuales, se explora cómo la cooperación internacional permite a estas ONGs acceder a recursos financieros, técnicos, estratégicos y otros, influenciando directamente en la ejecución de sus proyectos orientados a la conservación ambiental. A lo largo del estudio se observa que las redes trasnacionales suelen activarse como una respuesta frente a las limitaciones económicas y operativas que enfrentan estas ONGs locales, llevándolas a establecer alianzas estratégicas con una diversidad de actores, entre los que se incluyen organismos internacionales, empresas privadas, otras ONGs e incluso entidades estatales. Esta dinámica de cooperación facilita la implementación de iniciativas sostenibles y a su vez también promueve la protección de ecosistemas en el Perú, como la Amazonía y los Andes. Además, este trabajo busca aportar a los estudios sobre redes trasnacionales para la conservación ambiental en Perú desde el campo de las Relaciones Internacionales. En última instancia, la investigación plantea que aprovechar de manera efectiva estas redes trasnacionales es clave para que las ONGs superen las barreras estructurales que enfrentan y logren alcanzar sus objetivos de conservación en el contexto peruano.

This research seeks to understand the role of transnational networks and how they contribute to strengthening the capacity of environmental non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Peru. To this end, it uses the cases of Yunkawasi and the Association for the Conservation of the Amazon Basin (ACCA). Using a qualitative approach, based primarily on semi-structured interviews and the analysis of online materials, it explores how international cooperation allows these NGOs to access financial, technical, strategic, and other resources directly influencing the execution of their environmental conservation projects. Throughout the study, it is observed that transnational networks are often activated in response to the economic and operational constraints faced by these local NGOs, leading them to establish strategic alliances with a variety of actors, including international organizations, private companies, other NGOs, and even state entities. This dynamic of cooperation facilitates the implementation of sustainable initiatives and, in turn, also promotes the protection of ecosystems in Peru, such as the Amazon and the Andes. Furthermore, this paper seeks to contribute to the study of transnational networks for environmental conservation in Peru from the field of International Relations. Ultimately, the research suggests that effectively leveraging these transnational networks is key for NGOs to overcome the structural barriers they face and achieve their conservation goals in the Peruvian context.
