This research is a single systematic case study of a patient with depressive symptoms undergoing brief dynamic interpersonal therapy (DIT). The aim of this research was to understand changes in the dysfunctional relational pattern and in the structural capacity for regulation, as well as the relationship between both, using the OPD-2 system. To this end, the relational diagnosis formulation and the level of integration of the patient’s regulatory capacity were obtained during the initial phase of the DIT. These data were then compared with the formulation of the relational pattern and the level of regulatory capacity obtained in the final phase of the therapeutic process. The results show significant changes in the dynamic relational formulation, as the patient now appears more open to contact and affective openness, although with certain limitations. Additionally, partial changes were observed in the level of integration of the regulatory capacity, allowing the patient to rely less on overregulating mechanisms for managing her affects and impulses.
