Abstract
This thesis is framed within the research of therapeutic processes that analyze change through episodes relevant to the process. The study's objective focuses on describing and analyzing the Referential Activity within the verbal exchange between patient and therapist during the episodes of change of the intermediate phase of a brief psychoanalytic therapy process. To reach the objective, qualitative methodology founded in the application of the system Referencial Activity translated to spanish (Roussos y O’Connel; 2005) was employed to all the episodes identified by the Kraus et. al (2006) system. The main findings of this research highlight the regulation of the therapist's interventions and accommodations to the patient's needs in favoring the processes of symbolizing emotions. This thesis discusses the potential implications of these results and the relationship between referential activity and subjective change.
