The objective of the present study is to understand the perceptions of workplace harassment in the field of medicine among medical graduates who completed their internship in 2024 at a university in Huancayo. To this end, a qualitative methodology with a thematic analysis design was employed. Ten graduates were interviewed—four men and six women—and their notions regarding workplace harassment, its causes, consequences, manifestations, and the available coping resources were addressed. The results show that the participants identified workplace harassment as a problem closely linked to power relations sustained by the hierarchical and rigid structure characteristic of medical training. They also noted the presence of a culture that tends to normalize mistreatment, as well as the reproduction of traditional models within the training process. Various forms of this problem were identified, with observed differences based on gender; women were the most affected, especially in situations of sexual harassment. These manifestations can generate negative consequences for emotional well-being and performance in their pre-professional practice. Finally, the participants highlighted the existence of coping resources, among which agency capacity and mutual support among co-interns stood out.
