Adaptación, validación y fiabilización del Cough Severity Index (CSI) al español peruano en centros médicos privados de Lima Metropolitana y el Callao

Abstract
Objetivo general: Adaptar, validar y fiabilizar el Cough Severity Index (CSI) al español peruano
aplicado en adultos en el grupo etario de 18 años a más que acuden a centros médicos privados de
Lima Metropolitana y el Callao.
Método: Hay dos etapas: Primera etapa, adaptación del CSI al español peruano, la muestra piloto es
de 30 pacientes con tos crónica. Segunda etapa, validación y fiabilización del Índice de Tos crónica
(ITC) aplicado a 108 sujetos distribuidos de la siguiente manera: 45 pacientes con tos crónica (GTC)
y 63 personas sin tos crónica (GSTC).
Resultados: validez de contenido por medio del método de validación de jueces mediante los
coeficientes V de Aiken. Validez de constructo se obtiene a través del método de análisis factorial
confirmatorio. Validez concurrente se realiza intercorrelaciones entre el ITC adaptado y el Índice de
Incapacidad Vocal (VHI-10) obteniendo valores-p equivalentes a 0,000 muy significativos. La
fiabilidad del ITC es con el coeficiente de consistencia interna con el alfa de Cronbach 0,918 en el
primer componente obteniendo un nivel excelente, el segundo componente un valor de 0,799
equivalente a valor aceptable. Y la escala total muestra un valor alfa de 0,887 equivalente a valor
bueno.
Conclusiones: El ITC es un instrumento simple y corto que puede ser usado de forma fácil y sencilla
en el ámbito fonoaudiológico para cuantificar los síntomas de un paciente que presenta tos crónica a
nivel de las vías aéreas superiores por más de ocho semanas.
Objective: To adapt, validate and make reliable the Cough Severity Index (CSI) to Peruvian Spanish applied to adults in the group age of 18 years and older who attend private medical centers in Metropolitan Lima and Callao. Method: There are two stages: first stage, adaptation of the CSI to Peruvian Spanish, the pilot sample is 30 patients with chronic cough (CC). Second stage, validation and reliability of the Chronic Cough Index (ITC) instrument applied to 108 subjects distributed as follows: group of 45 patients with chronic cough (GTC) and group of 63 people without chronic cough (GSTC). Results: content validity through the judge validation method using Aiken´s V coefficients. Construct validity is obtained through the confirmatory factor analysis method. Concurrent validity, intercorrelations are performed between the adapted ITC and the Voice Handicap Index (VHI-10), obtaining highly significant p-values equal to 0.000. Reliability of the ITC is with the coefficient of internal consistency with Cronbach´s alpha 0.918 in the first component obtaining an excellent level, the second component a value of 0.799 equivalent to an acceptable value. And the total scale shows an alpha value of 0.887 equivalent to a good value. Conclusion: The ITC is a simple instrument that can be easily used in the voice therapy field to quantify the symptoms of a patient who presents chronic cough in the upper airways for more than eight weeks.
