Abstract
religiosas, y soporte social religioso.
The principal aim of this study is to analyze the possible association between religiosity and spirituality, and academic stress in a sample of 78 students belonging to the faculties of Psychology, Social Sciences and Architecture from a private university in Lima. Likewise, in this research we want to identify the differences in academic stress and religiosity and spirituality according to the gender and faculty to which the participants belong. This aim will be achieved using the SISCO Academic Stress Inventory and the Systems of Beliefs Inventory (SBI – 15R). Subsequently, the corresponding analyzes were carried out, a direct and significant correlation was obtained between the frequency in which a stimulus is perceived as a stressor and the two subscales of the SBI-15R: religious beliefs and practices, on the one hand; and religious social support on the other. Afterwards, a direct and significant correlation was also obtained between the frequency in which coping strategies are used and the sub-scales of the SBI-15R: religious beliefs and practices; and religious social support. In conclusion, the students with higher level of religiosity perceive more the environment as stressful but, at the same time, use coping strategies such as religiosity in order to cope with it.
