Abstract
This research constitutes an approach to historical reenactment practices. To do so, the case of the Historical Reenactment Association of Lima (ARHL) is taken into account. Their experience allows for a deeper understanding of the complexity and potential of historical reenactment, discussing the category of narratives towards mnemonic practices as the basis for a pedagogical-performative effort. Transversely within the analysis, attention has been paid to the relationship between visuality, imagination, performance, and memory. To develop this approach, a qualitative methodological design was followed, based on the application of i) Participant observation, ii) Netnographic observation; iii) Survey; iv) Semi-structured interview. It is argued that the cross-cutting vocation of learning-teaching, intertwined with the motivations of the members, permeates the different dimensions of the production of reenactment and imbues a pedagogical character to historical reenactments, thus complexifying the very notion of narrative.
