peruano.
This study explores the relationship between political conservatism, measured through the variables of Right-Wing Authoritarianism (RWA), Intolerance of Ambiguity, Need for Cognitive Closure, and Openness to Experience, with musical preference and familiarity. A correlational study was conducted with a sample of 227 participants, also examining sociodemographic variables such as level of religiosity, political orientation, musician category, and age. Through cluster analysis, profiles of more and less conservative individuals were identified. The results suggest significant differences in preferences and familiarity with complex music among individuals with different political orientations. Specifically, Intolerance of Ambiguity (inverse), Need for Cognitive Closure (inverse), and Openness to Experience (direct) were correlated with a preference for complex music. Furthermore, familiarity with complex music is related to Openness to Experience (direct) and Intolerance of Ambiguity (inverse). In summary, the findings confirm several of the hypotheses proposed, contributing to the study of aesthetic preferences from the perspective of political ideology in the Peruvian context.
