This research provides details about the current representation of female characters in films aimed at a mass audience. Wanda Maximoff, a heroine with great relevance in the narrative of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is taken as the character to study to determine her narrative and visual development throughout her participation in the WandaVision series. In this way, the evolution in the construction of this female character categorized as a witch and heroine in a production of great impact on popular culture is identified. The methodology used for this work is a qualitative and descriptive-analytical approach, which uses filmographic and bibliographic resources as part of the research, among which is the WandaVision series (2021) mainly. In addition, previous appearances within the MCU franchise are considered to provide context for the character. In this way, it is intended to answer the initial hypothesis about whether there is a change in the female representation linked to witchcraft in a superhero franchise. To this end, a narrative and visual analysis of the character in question is conducted, revealing how a stereotypical and consumer-oriented representation of Wanda Maximoff remains entrenched. The results show that the representation of Wanda Maximoff remains tied to a traditional patriarchal framework that informs stories in the audiovisual industry, although changes are gradually emerging thanks to the inclusion of female perspectives in productions.
