The current research analyzes how the initial cycles of university studies influence students' perceived health and whether there is an appropriate adjustment to this new stage in their academic lives. To this end, the main objective was to examine the relationship between adaptation to college and perceived health among students from two universities in Arequipa. The research involved 349 university students aged between 18 and 28 years (M = 20.44; SD = 1.95), of whom 61.9% were women and 38.1% were men. The results indicate that approximately two-thirds of the participants perceive their health as good or excellent, while one-third perceive it as fair or poor. Additionally, significant differences were found based on gender. Men reported higher levels of perceived health and better personal-emotional adaptation compared to women. Regarding academic factors, students who had not failed courses and who demonstrated greater motivation and academic performance showed better outcomes in adaptation to college and perceived health. Positive and significant correlations were found between all dimensions of university adaptation and the components of perceived health.
