Abstract
This paper contributes to the debate on the barriers in which women academics are immersed, therefore, several researches have been reviewed within the framework of gender studies and the field of work. Although the review of the literature is quite broad in relation to gender and socioeconomic barriers, this study seeks to emphasize the situation of women in this new context of pandemic. In this way, we aim to answer the following question: what are the effects of the pandemic on the socio-economic and gender barriers of women academics? Regarding what is reviewed in the literature for the State of the Art and the Theoretical Framework, the importance of the sexual division of labor as the basis of these barriers is highlighted, and the Academy is also considered as a space where the mechanisms of inequality between men and women are manifested, and finally, the distribution of roles around care and domestic work is highlighted. Therefore, part of the secondary objectives will be to analyze what has happened with the academic burden since the pandemic, identify how they are assuming reproductive work in relation to these new work and family dynamics within the home and finally, what are the supports that women resort to from confinement.
