Abstract
The study analyzed the psychometric properties of the Cognitive Behavioral Physical Activity Questionnaire (CBPAQ) in a sample of 203 university students from Lima, aged 18 and 25 years (M = 21.38, SD = 2.08). CBPAQ integrates two factors that could explain the performance of physical activity. This questionnaire was translated, reviewed by health experts, piloted, and applied to a target sample. An exploratory factor analysis was performed using the Maximum Likelihood method with Varimax rotation, in which it was obtained that the model explains 58.81% of the variance; that is, the factor of perceived barriers and self-regulation and outcome expectations. Likewise, a reliability index was obtained for internal consistency for each area; outcome expectations and self-regulation (α = .87) and perceived barriers (α = .80). Regarding the validity of the criterion, the total score of BMI and CBPAQ, in which it was reported that there are no significant differences, in terms of the validity of discrimination the GPAQ is used and for convergent validity the AMPEF. That is, we can conclude that it is necessary to continue investigating this instrument.
