The objective of this research was to explore the subjective experiences of emotional regulation in visually impaired para-athletes who practice competitive running in Metropolitan Lima. Using a qualitative approach, in-depth interviews were conducted with seven athletes to identify the emotional regulation strategies they employ in the context of competition. Data analysis was based on Garnefski et al.'s (2001) model of emotional regulation strategies, which allowed us to identify the most common cognitive and behavioral tactics among participants. The results suggest that coping strategies, such as positive reappraisal and perceived self-efficacy, play a central role in the emotional management of these athletes, facilitating their athletic performance. Furthermore, implications are addressed through four themes that investigate how paraathletes have developed adaptability to cope in sporting spaces. These findings provide a deeper understanding of paraathletes' emotional needs and open avenues for interventions to promote their resilience and emotional well-being.
