Abstract
alternativas de solución que permitan ampliar el horizonte de producción de esta empresa;
Gold Fields is a South African company that has extensive experience operating mines around the world and began work in Peru in 2008, through the Cerro Corona mining unit, under the name Gold Fields La Cima S.A. The operation is located in the northern zone of Peru, specifically in the district and province of Hualgayoc, department of Cajamarca. This unit uses an open pit mining method and a sulfide flotation processing method, whose final product is a gold and copper concentrate that is mainly sold in the European and Asian markets. This business consulting seeks to develop an opportunity for improvement in the Gold Fields production process, through an evaluation of internal and external agents, such as: work in silos of the areas involved in the production process and stoppages of operations due to social demands; as well as the identification of the company's strengths and weaknesses, in order to propose alternative solutions that allow expanding the production horizon of this company; but without sacrificing results in the short and medium term. Taking this objective into account, a key problem was identified: the performance of the production process was directly related to throughput; consequently, the solution proposal is focused on increasing the percentage of fines produced by blasting. This proposal has been analyzed financially and data such as NPV and IRR reveal positive results; regarding the investment, it will be self- financed and its recovery period will be six months, so that, despite the downward horizon in terms of production, the company can improve its financial results and obtain the maximum possible profitability.
