Abstract
This research aims to explore the relationship between social support and perceived stress in young homosexual gays between the ages of 18 and 32 (M=24.53) in the metropolitan city of Lima. For this purpose we conducted a research based on a quantitive methodology (N=53), which allowed to explore such relationship. In addition, we observed the relation between social support and perceived stress with other sociodemographic variables. Through a web link, a social demographic questionnaire, the MOS (Sherbourne & Stewart, 1991) and the EPP (Cohen et al., 1983) was applied. The results, unlike what was expected to be found based on other studies, do not show any correlation between social support and perceived stress. Nevertheless, it was found that the bigger the social support net, higher levels of positive interaction and emotional support.
