Abstract
The present study aimed to analyze the dating violence perception in students of a private university of Lima and it’s relationship with coping strategies. The study was performed with a group of participants of 102 students whose ages ranged from 18 to 25 years (M=19,95; SD=1,81). The instruments used were the Dating Violence Questionnaire (DVQ) (Rodríguez et al., 2010) and the Cope Inventory (COPE) (Carver, et al., 1989). Low association was found between the analyzed variables. Positive relationship was found between the dimensions of Acceptance with Detachment and Sexual, and Substance use with Instrumental Punishment. There were also found inverse relationships between Religious coping with Coercion, and Humor with Emotional Punishment. Also, significant differences were found in the dating violence perception between men and women. Men were more perceptive of dating violence in the dimensions of Detachment, Humiliation, Coercion, Gender and Emotional Punishment of the DVQ.
