escenario político peruano atrayendo, incluso, a simpatizantes jóvenes.
In a juncture of scant approval towards political parties and low mobilization regarding ideologies, the radical right has managed to make its way into the peruvian political scenario, attracting even young supporters. Thus, this research proposed as a case study the youth participation in López-Aliaga's campaign for the Mayor of Lima in the framework of the 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections. Likewise, it asked about the reasons that fostered young people to participate in that campaign. On the one hand, it was considered that said support was due, to a greater extent, to the identification of young people with the radical right ideology promoted by López- Aliaga and his political group, Renovación Popular. On the other hand, it was argued that youth support for said candidacy was due, to a lesser extent, to the satisfaction of a personal interest associated with the electoral triumph of López-Aliaga and/or his local candidates. Hence, semi-structured interviews were conducted with a sample of young people who were involved in the subnational campaign of Renovación Popular in Lima Metropolitana and its constituencies. In conclusion, it was revealed that, in most cases, factors such as identification with anti-progressive conservative morality and sympathy for populist leaders effectively circumvent the search for job opportunities within the municipal administration and the opportunities to develop a political career in a rather pragmatic and scant ideologized context such as subnational elections.
