This research details the transformations that have occurred in the news narrative and in the profile of the journalists from the Politics section of the Andina News Agency, as part of its adaptation to digital journalism. To do this, publications from January 2016 and January 2024 were reviewed in order to quantitatively observe to what extent multimedia and hypertextual elements that characterise and define digital journalism are incorporated into the construction of political news. In addition, a qualitative analysis was conducted to identify significant changes in the profiles of its journalists, most of whom come from traditional press backgrounds, as a result of the new tasks and responsibilities assumed by this Peruvian state media outlet, which launched its first website in 2002. The results show that multimedia features are in a developmental stage in the Politics news narrative, with a news model primarily based on text and photography, limited use of video and infographics. Moreover, a notable increase (67.5 %) in the use of hyperlinks was found in the January 2024 sample compared to January 2016. The research also found that the journalists in this section have expanded their professional profiles as Andina has evolved into a multimedia and multiplatform outlet, through the creation of dedicated sections for such content and new platforms for information distribution. This progression enabled Politics journalists to achieve media, thematic, and functional versatility even before the multimedia shift reached the section’s narrative itself.
