Abstract
El mercado de equipos portuarios peruano presenta un potencial de crecimiento
importante debido principalmente a: (a) la posición geográfica privilegiada del país, (b) la
precaria situación de la mayoría de los puertos nacionales, y (c) la creciente demanda de
maquinaria portuaria por parte de los diversos proyectos de gran envergadura que se
desarrollan en el ámbito local. Tomando en consideración estas premisas, el plan estratégico
desarrollado a través de este documento para la empresa Equiports propone estrategias que se
centran en el aprovechamiento de sus ventajas competitivas, las que residen en: (a) la
representación exclusiva de equipos desarrollados con lo último en tecnología y que son
líderes en el mercado internacional, (b) la flexibilidad en el establecimiento de contratos a
largo plazo para el mantenimiento y repotenciación de equipos de manejo de carga portuaria,
y (c) la especialización técnica del personal de Equiports que permita dar un servicio con la
más alta calidad del mercado, a fin de conseguir los objetivos a largo plazo y sus correlativos
objetivos a corto plazo; esto en el marco de la visión establecida por la organización. La
manera como se logarán estos objetivos es a través de las estrategias específicas, las
estrategias retenidas y las estrategias de contingencia, las cuales se centran en buscar el
posicionamiento de la empresa Equiports en el mercado de renta de equipos, con una política
de precios diferenciados y márgenes reducidos que permitan ampliar el portafolio de clientes,
así como estableciendo un nuevo nicho de mercado en los servicios de renovación y
repotenciación de equipos
Peruvian port equipment market presents an important growth potential mainly due to: (a) privileged geographic country location, (b) poor situation of most of national ports, and (c) port machinery growing demand from different high-importance projects developed locally. Keeping in mind these premises, the strategic plan for the enterprise Equiports, developed through this document, proposes strategies focused on usage of competitive advantages which lie on: (a) exclusive equipment, developed with the latest technology, and which is leader in the international market, (b) flexibility at the establishment of long-term agreements for port cargo handling equipment maintaining and repowering, and (c) technical specialization for the Equiports staff that allows to provide the market's high quality, in order to accomplish the long-term and correlative short-term goals. All of this according to the vision frame stablished by the organization. The way to accomplish these goals is through specific strategies, retained strategies and contingency strategies, which are focused on placing Equiports in the equipment renting market with a different-prices policy, reduced margins that allow to broad the costumer portfolio, as well as to stablish a new market niche in equipment renewal and repowering services
