Abstract
Aquaculture has grown dramatically worldwide, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean. Peru contains 4% of the world's fresh water and several indigenous fish species; thus, conditions are ideal for the establishment and growth of mariculture and aquiculture. In this context, various government bodies have been tasked with promoting industry, and implementing strategies that allow its sustainable development through socially responsible practices and respect for the environment. The present thesis presents strategic planning for the aquaculture industry in Peru with the intention of making Peru the main global supplier of aquaculture products suitable for direct human consumption through the application of scientific research and technological development in the cultivation of new species
