Abstract
The present study aims to analyze the necessary graphomotor factors that a child must have developed before beginning their learning to write; and, to compare these skills among children who, in principle, had different teaching methods for them. Therefore, the research aims to determine and compare the differences in the level of graphomotor skills between students of the 1st grade of primary school of a public and a private educational institution in the district of Chorrillos, so the variable to study are graphomotor skills in children who have already begun their learning to write. The methodology used to meet the objective is quantitative and descriptivecomparative design. A sample of 120 students of both sexes was made, 60 from a public institution and 60 from a private institution. To collect the information, the Grafomotor Skills Test (T.H.G.), by García, León and Boscaini was used, which assesses the quality and level of the graphomotor skills acquired by the child. The results show that, although there are no significant differences in the directionality factor, there are such differences in the tonic drive, visual-motor coordination, and motor perceptual decoding. Therefore, it was concluded that the graphomotor skills of the children of the private institution are more developed and are at the best level than that of the children of the public institution. Key words: graphomotor skills, graphomotor skills, directionality, tonic drive, visual-motor coordination, motor perceptual decoding.
