Carmilla.
Transmedia storytelling is present in different ways in current communication processes at a global level, due to the impact of the development of information technology, digital transformation, and the immediacy of social media. The web series Carmilla was created in 2014, at a time when the limits and scope of transmedia storytelling were expanding, making it a subject of study for analyzing the role of transmedia in storytelling and the participation of prosumers in the expansion of the product. First, the object of study, its scope, and justification were addressed; then, the relevant theoretical framework was developed, focusing on the main definitions of transmedia storytelling, its nature, and the characteristics stipulated by leading authorities such as Jenkins and Scolari. Similarly, the basis of prosumer behavior and characteristics were presented as essential elements of transmedia narrative. Contextual characteristics of the base story and the Carmilla web series were also presented. The analysis focuses on audience and prosumer activity on the web series' official social media accounts throughout the three seasons, focusing on their interactivity in the first six and last six episodes of each season. To this end, the strategies used by the production team to achieve the desired audience reception and response were determined. Its impact was measured on each of the chosen platforms (Twitter, Tumblr, and YouTube), identifying the activity, creations, and contributions of prosumers, thus determining their relevance in the transmedia storytelling of Carmilla.
