Abstract
A business model is presented that allows industries to characterize the solid waste generated during their production process and the design of a web platform called Re- Valorízate for the connection between industrial companies and solid waste valorizers. This initiative aims to promote a circular economy, where waste is transformed into inputs for other industrial processes. Designed to maximize the valorization of solid waste, since currently only 1.8% of solid waste in Peru is valorized, with a valorization potential of 78.4% (Ministry of the Environment [MINAM], 2023a). In addition, this solution responds to the urgent need to recycle and reuse solid waste in the face of demanding environmental legislation and an increasingly relevant global sustainability landscape. In this sense, the platform offers an innovative solution to comply with environmental regulations and transform waste management into a competitive advantage for the company. The desirability was validated among users of industrial companies such as Compañía Minera Antamina, Vulco Perú, Danper Trujillo, Inca Tops, among others. The platform has an intuitive and technologically advanced interface for the connection between generators and solid waste recovery plants. The proposed solution is also sustainable, since, by reducing the dependence on landfills, which are on the verge of collapse, it contributes significantly to environmental sustainability. In addition, the solution has a strong social component, since it improves the public image of the companies involved by aligning them with corporate social responsibility practices. It also meets the growing requirements of stakeholders who demand sustainable business practices. In economic terms, with a NPV of US$1,071,013 and modified IRR of 107.96%, financial viability was demonstrated.
