Abstract
In order to analyze social representations of femininity among adolescent girls in a school in Metropolitan Lima, the study was based on the structural approach of social representations theory. A qualitative study with a phenomenological design and a thematic analysis approach was conducted, using a semi-structured interview aligned with the components of social representations (information, attitude, and field of representation) and the hierarchical evocation technique to indicate the elements of social representations (central core and peripheral system). Eight 4th grade high school students, aged 15 to 16, were interviewed. The main results indicate that social representations of femininity align with a paradigm shift regarding the meaning of being a woman. Although the adolescents' definitions of sexuality and gender are not precise, they are open to diversity and highly value the breaking of stereotypes, believing that women have the ability to achieve their professional and personal goals both within and outside the domestic sphere.
