Abstract
The objective of this research is to determinate the relationship between the semantic and syntactic processes of reading and working memory of students in the third, fourth and fifth grade of primary level from Santa Rosa de Chosica School. The approach is quantitative, non-experimental and correlational design. 83 students were evaluated with the Assessment Battery Revised Readers Processes (PROLEC-R) adapted to Lima and the Reading Span Test (PAL) adapted to spanish. The results showed that there is a significant and positive relationship between working memory with the task of punctuation of syntactic processes and tasks of sentence comprehension and oral comprehension of semantic processes. The level of performance in executive processes of working memory was lower than expected for the age of the students. However, they scored within the normal category in the syntactic and semantic processes of reading.
