Participaron 35 estudiantes (17 varones y 18 mujeres).
The study aims to identity how environmental education, integrated as a cross-cutting component, contributes to the development of environmental awareness among students in the Agricultural Production program at a Public Higher Technological Education Institute located in the Ica region. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach through an exploratory case study. For data collection, semi-structured interviews and documentary review related to educational management were used. A total of 35 students participated (17 male and 18 female). The findings reveal that students have a partial understanding of climate change, especially regarding its impacts on health and the natural environment. However, their knowledge of the scientific aspects of the phenomenon, such as atmospheric processes or greenhouse gases, is limited. Basic environmental practices such as recycling were identified, although the implementation of more complex actions faces limitations due to lack of resources and infrastructure. Experiential educational activities, including community participation and Ecocine, played an important role in strengthening environmental awareness. It is concluded that the institute plays a relevant role in shaping students’ environmental awareness, although the perspective remains limited, particularly regarding agroecological practices. Strengthening the articulation between technical education and sustainability principles is necessary, with the aim of enabling students to enhance their skills and develop attitudes oriented towards the implementation of responsible actions in their future professional performance, thereby contributing to environmental protection in their communities.
